Carlos Sainz, ninth in Free Practice 3 at Mexico GP

His goal in this afternoon’s Qualifying will be to enter Q3

Mexico City, October 28th 2017.- Carlos Sainz finished ninth in the last Free Practice session for the Mexico Grand Prix, after completing 21 laps. His best lap-time was 1:18.208. With this result, the Spaniard was placed ahead of the other RS17 by just 172 thousands of a second.

Practice began in colder conditions than yesterday. The air temperature was 13ºC. The track was at 26ºC, although it ramped up to 32ºC as minutes ticked-by.
Carlos left the garage ten minutes into the session on a brand-new set of ultrasoft tyres. He clocked 8 laps on them, his fastest one being a 1:18.539. After some adjustments in pits, the Spaniard hit the track on used tyres for another 8-lap run and still managed to improve to 1:18.366.

Yet the best was still to come. The Spaniard of Renault Sport F1 Team picked-up a brand-new set of ultrasoft tyres in the last minutes. He put together five laps, setting a personal best in his first flying lap only to go and improve in the second (1:18.208). He finished ninth, feeling capable of helping Renault in its will to get to Q3 with the two cars.

Qualifying session will begin at 13:00 local time (20:00 CEST). We will follow Carlos live via his official website www.carlosainz.es and our Twitter account @carlosainzinfo.
