Carlos Sainz, tenth in Free Practice 3 at Chinese GP

Intense work in a session that was used to prepare Qualifying and Race

Shanghai, April 8th 2017.- The last Free Practice session of the Chinese Grand Prix was completely different than the previous ones. Under clear blue skies and warm temperatures which almost doubled yesterday’s figures, drivers were able to work as usual in their push to recover the lost track-time. Carlos Sainz made the most out of every minute and finished tenth. His fastest lap was 1’35”223.

Carlos headed out early in the session. After his installation lap, he clocked a 14-lap run in race conditions and supersoft tyres, the softest compound Pirelli has made available for this Grand Prix.

The Spaniard of Scuderia Toro Rosso would move to softs –a step harder than his initial choice- to fulfill a 5-lap stint before returning to the supersofts for his Qualifying simulation. It lasted four laps, one of them being the 1’35”223 that secured him the tenth spot in the standings.

The most important thing is that Carlos was able to collect all the important data. He didn’t suffer any major set-backs. He will now study closely all the information before Qualifying, which will begin at 09:00 CET, 15:00 local time. We will follow it live via www.carlosainz.es and our Twitter account @carlosainzinfo.
