A contact at the start compromises Carlos Sainz at the United States GP

Sunday, 25 October 2026:

- Race: P18, 55 laps

  • The chances of Carlos Sainz at the United States GP were compromised from the start when Arvid Lindblad squeezed him into the wall, causing damage to his front wing.
  • The Williams race driver started from sixteenth on the grid, but was down to eighteenth in the following laps. He also had to change the front wing in the Pit Lane.
  • The pace of the Spanish driver was better in the second half of the race and he crossed the finish line just one second behind his teammate, despite the damage he sustained at the start.

QUOTES:

“We had another great start off the line but I got squeezed into the wall, had contact and picked up damage to my front wing. That compromised my first stint and I eventually had to pit for a new front wing, losing valuable time. From there it was a good recovery drive, with decent pace given the limitations of our car this week. Looking ahead to Mexico, it’s one track that we might be slightly stronger at, potentially with the ability to mix in with the midfield, but it’s going to take a lot to be back in the points”.
