Carlos Sainz maximizes the FW48 but falls in Q1 at the Hungarian GP

Saturday, 25 July 2027:
- Free Practice 3: P20, 1:21.406, 17 laps
- Qualifying: P18, 1:20.621, 9 laps

  • Carlos Sainz qualified in fifteenth place in the Hungarian GP in a tricky session for the Spanish driver and his car, although he finished the day as the best-placed Williams on the grid.
  • The Spanish driver was aware of the limitations of his FW48 from the start of the weekend and this Saturday he confirmed them in Qualifying, where he fell in Q1 (1:20.621) despite a solid set-up work together with the engineers.
  • Carlos concedes that his car couldn’t be further up the grid in the current situation, but he is still ambitious for tomorrow’s race, where he will try to maximize every opportunity.

QUOTES:
“Tough weekend. The balance of the car was different in each session, and on my side of the garage, we had some issues at the rear of the car which made the car unpredictable and difficult to find the optimal setup. Even if we had optimised everything, I think this is the maximum that was possible today in terms of grid position for tomorrow".
