Intense Free Practice 2 for Carlos Sainz at the Sao Paulo GP

Friday, 6 November 2026:

- Free Practice 1: Did not run.

- Free Practice 2: P17, 1:12.742, 33 laps

  • Carlos Sainz completed 33 laps in the second practice session of the Sao Paulo GP, which took place under overcast skies and a threat of rain that could materialise at any moment.
  • The Williams race driver made up some of the lost time after handing over his car to the team’s test driver Luke Browning in the morning session. It might have been the only dry session for Carlos before the race, because rain is expected for tomorrow.
  • The Spanish driver covered 15 laps on the Hard tyre and 18 on the Soft, and set his fastest time on the latter. He did runs of over 10 laps with both compounds.

QUOTES:

“Missing FP1 is never ideal, but Luke did a good job during this mileage-limited weekend. It was a tricky FP2 with low temperatures and cold tyres, so it took a bit of time to get used to that. By the end of the session, I managed to get into a rhythm and did an okay lap on the soft and a decent long run. We are experimenting with setup and doing some correlation work which will help get us in a good position for next year. The weather could bring some opportunities tomorrow”.

COMING UP:
