Carlos Sainz shines with a second place in Brazilian GP Sprint

Saturday, 12 November 2022
-    Free Practice 2: P11, 1:15.856, 38 laps
-    Sprint: P2, 24 laps

  • Carlos recovered three places in the Sprint race of the Sao Paulo GP, which he finished in second place after passing Lando Norris, Kevin Magnussen and Max Verstappen.
  • His most spectacular overtaking came with five laps to go, when he passed Verstappen’s Red Bull with a remarkable move through the inside of the Senna S.
  • This result means that Carlos will be starting from seventh place tomorrow in the Sao Paulo GP, given that he will have to serve a five-place penalty for changing the ICE on his power-unit.

QUOTES:
“Good Sprint Race today. Solid pace, overtakings and defense to finish P2. Tomorrow we can expect a very busy race as I will have to serve the penalty and will start from seventh".

“We still have some work to do if we want to fight at the very front, as Merc is also very competitive here. However, I’m confident we can pull off a good race tomorrow and I think we are up for a very interesting battle. Full focus on tomorrow".
