Carlos Sainz finishes fourth in the Belgian Sprint, albeit with a promising pace
Saturday, 29 July 2023 - Sprint Shootout: P3, 1:49.081, 14 laps - Sprint: P4, 11 laps
Carlos Sainz almost finished in the Top 3 in the Sprint of the Belgian GP, which was once again affected by the weather.
The rain forced a delay of 30 minutes and then the cars did four formation laps behind the Safety-Car.
Track conditions improved drastically, so Carlos pitted on the first lap after the green flag to switch to Intermediate tyres.
The incoming traffic after the tyre change, though, cost him several places and ultimately a better result.
QUOTES: "We had good pace with the Inters but we missed out on a better result. The pit stop was crucial today and unfortunately, we lost some valuable positions there. We will look into it, but apart from that it was a solid Saturday for the team and I felt good in these conditions".
"Now we focus on tomorrow: it's difficult to know how our pace will be during the race so I prefer to be cautious. However, I’m looking forward to putting everything together and finishing this first part of the season with a good result. Let’s race again!".
COMING UP: Sunday, 30 July 2023 - Race: 15:00 local time (15:00 CEST)
