Carlos Sainz retires in Austin after being hit by a rival

• Carlos was forced to retire in the opening lap of the United States GP because a Mercedes hit him going into Turn 1.
• The Spaniard was able to get his car back to the pits, but his mechanics soon realized that the damage the Ferrari had sustained in the impact was unrepairable.

“Nothing much to say today. I got hit by the Mercedes into turn 1 whilst battling with Max and unfortunately I paid the price today. I feel the pace would have been there and it would have been an interesting race, but I prefer to look ahead and start focusing on Mexico. Not easy to catch a break this season, but we’ll keep going at it until the end".
