- Race: P8, 50 laps
- Carlos Sainz finished the Saudi Arabian GP as the leader of the midfield after finishing the race in eighth place. This is his best result since joining the Williams team.
- The Spaniard started from sixth on the grid. He prioritized tyre management during the first stint as he was under attack by drivers with much faster cars.
- Carlos’ first and only pit-stop was on Lap 21. His stop was slower than usual, but Carlos made up for that with a good number of overtakings on track on his way back to the eighth place.
- In the final laps, the Spanish race driver gave his DRS to his teammate Alex Albon to help him defend from the attack of Isack Hadjar, who was a threat from tenth place.
QUOTES:
"Solid day! We’ve been strong throughout the race, first on the Medium tyre and then coming through the field on the Hard tyre with good overtakes until the checkered flag. Towards the end of the race the team identified that Hadjar was going to be a threat for Alex, so with 12-13 laps to go I was asked to give him DRS. It wasn’t easy, as in this track, with three DRS zones, the slightest of mistakes can be very costly. However, we managed it perfectly and secured an important double points finish for the team! I’m very happy after putting together a good weekend and I can’t wait for Miami!”.
