Sunday, 7 September 2025:
- Race: P11, 53 laps
- An incident with a rival car impeded Carlos Sainz from finalizing a comeback drive that would have comfortably taken him into the points of the Italian GP.
- The Williams race driver started from thirteenth place on Medium tyres and did everything that was within his reach to extend the life of his tyres, well aware that he would have a chance to attack in the second half of the race, which was flat-out.
- On Lap 40, already in his comeback drive, the Spanish race driver passed Oliver Bearman to enter the points. Nevertheless, the Haas was too aggressive and he was in fact penalized for causing a collision that led to both cars spinning around.
- Carlos’ FW47 suffered damage in this incident and this compromised his race, ultimately crossing the finish line in eleventh place.
QUOTES:
“Difficult day in the office today. We were the last car of the pack who started on the Medium, so that didn’t leave us much room strategy-wise. I really stretched out the first stint before pitting to the Hard to build some tyre delta, and we were looking very strong, doing a good comeback until the incident with Ollie. With a damaged car we couldn’t do anything to recover more positions and our battery issue all race didn’t help either. It’s tough to miss out on good points and digest another race like this, but the speed is there and we’ll do our best to bounce back for Baku".
