Carlos Sainz is fourth in challenging Qualifying at the Singapore GP

Saturday, 1 October 2022
-    Free Practice 3: P3, 1:58.848, 12 laps
-    Qualifying: P4, 1:49.583, 22 laps

  • Today’s Qualifying session was among the most challenging ones of the year, given that the track didn’t dry up completely until the end of Q3.
  • Carlos dealt with traffic through Q1 (1:54.559) and Q2 (1:53.319), as all the cars were on track at the same time on Intermediate tyres to capitalize the ever-improving conditions.
  • The Spaniard completed Q3 in its entirety with the same set of Soft tyres. He set his fastest time in his last attempt, in which a small issue at Turn 16 cost him his chances of pole position.

QUOTES:
“Challenging qualifying today, one of the toughest of the season due to the conditions and the amount of traffic in a street circuit like this".

"I think we did a decent session overall, but it’s frustrating to see that a tenth and a half cost us four positions, especially after reviewing my fastest lap, where it was looking very good for pole until the snap of turn 16".

"We’ll look back into it and check what we could have done better but now need to focus on tomorrow. We can still get a very good result from there and we know how long and eventful these Singapore races can get. I’m ready to fight for everything. Let’s race".
