Difficult Qualifying for Carlos Sainz at the Qatar GP

Friday, 6 October 2023
-    Free Practice: P2, 1:27.762, 27 laps
-    Qualifying: P12, 1:25.328, 18 laps

  • Carlos Sainz didn’t make the Q3 in the Qualifying session of the Qatar GP by just 31 thousandths of a second. This is just the second time this year that this has happened.
  • The poor grip of the racetrack, which was resurfaced recently, but mainly the wind in the high-speed corners, were challenging factors for the SF-23 and Carlos.
  • The Ferrari race driver doesn’t think the weekend is over and he stresses that Sunday’s recovery drive starts with a good performance in Saturday’s Sprint, which will take place tomorrow with its very own Qualifying session.

QUOTES:
“It’s been a difficult Friday all together. I have struggled with the car balance and couldn’t find decent grip out there in Qualy. I’m obviously not happy but we’ll see what we can do for tomorrow. Hopefully we can turn it around for the Sprint and we’ll fight hard to recover on Sunday.”

COMING UP:
Saturday, 7 October 2023
-    Sprint Shootout: 16:00 local time (15:00 CEST)
-    Sprint: 20:30 local time (19:30 CEST)
