- Free Practice 3: P10, 1:22.589, 6 laps
- Qualifying: P11, 1:10.914, 18 laps
- Carlos Sainz fell in Q2 at the Dutch GP, compromised by the lack of preparation following three practice sessions with many challenges.
- After rain in Free Practice 1 and a gearbox issue in Free Practice 2, he found a wet track in Free Practice 3 and a red flag period that lasted over 40 minutes.
- The Ferrari race driver made it through Q1 (1:11.327) with the third fastest time overall, although he used two sets of new tyres.
- After starting Q2 on a used set, he used a new one for his final outing and he was less than a tenth short from making the cut to Q3. His lap-time was 1:10.914.
QUOTES:
“Obviously not happy with how things are going this weekend. Before this session I’ve hardly done any laps with the slick tyre so it was always going to be very difficult to do a perfect Qualifying around this tricky track. Then, in Q2, traffic around the high speed section didn’t help either and missing Q3 by less than a tenth hurts".
"In general we are struggling with the car this weekend, but points are given out tomorrow and I’ll try to do my best to recover".
