An impeding in Qualifying jeopardizes Carlos Sainz’s Canadian GP

Saturday, 14 June 2025
- Free Practice 3: P9, 1:12.519, 22 laps
- Qualifying: P17, 1:12.398, 13 laps

  • Carlos Sainz fell in Q1 victim of traffic. An impeding from another car cost him valuable time in the two first sectors when he was in his last timed lap.
  • Even with traffic on track, the Williams race driver was only 20 thousandths of a second away from making the cut to Q2, which shows that he would have made it without any issues hadn’t there been another car in front.
  • The Williams race driver was using the third set of Soft tyres at that time: the first one didn’t work out and the second one was compromised by a red flag.

QUOTES:
“Not much to say. Pretty much all of sector 1 behind the VCARB, to the point we nearly even collide, 20 milliseconds away from Q2 and weekend ruined. It’s incredibly disappointing".
