Carlos Sainz struggles with grip in Canadian GP Qualifying

Saturday, 8 June 2024
- Free Practice 3: P12, 1:13.570, 33 laps
- Qualifying: P12, 1:12.728, 22 laps

  • Carlos Sainz will start twelfth in the Canadian GP after a Qualifying session where the risk of rain was ever present and, in the case of Ferrari, the lack of grip on the track was a struggle.
  • The Spanish Ferrari race driver made it through Q1 (1:13.570) with two sets of Soft tyres and in Q2 (1:12.728) he finished just a few thousandths of a second away from making the cut, again on dry tyres.
  • Carlos took some risks especially on the last lap and by then a light drizzle had hit the track. A small loss of traction coming out of the last corner and the countersteer following that moment cost him the access to Q3.

QUOTES:
“Tough Saturday for us today. We had trouble with grip and couldn't get the tires to work properly. On the last lap in Q2 I tried everything but unfortunately I didn't nail the last corner and I lost my chances of advancing to Q3 there. I stay positive for tomorrow and I think we can still bring home some good points. We will give our best"-
