- Free Practice 1: P8, 1.31.812, 27 laps
- Free Practice 2: P8, 1:31.299, 20 laps
- Carlos Sainz was always among the fastest drivers in the first practice day of the Singapore GP, where he was able to work across the three tyre compounds of Pirelli, especially the Medium and the Soft ones.
- The Williams race driver felt comfortable in Free Practice 1, although initially this was not a favorable track for the British team. The set-up changed they did going into Free Practice 2, though, didn’t give the best result.
- Carlos still sees margin for improvement in his FW47 with the Soft tyre, one of the greatest struggles of the team so far. They will do their best to improve ahead of tomorrow’s crucial Qualifying session, given that passing on track is very challenging in the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
QUOTES:
“We’ve been relatively competitive all day. In FP2 we went with a different car setup and I struggled a bit more compared to FP1, losing a bit of confidence, so we’ll look into reverting back to the original configuration. We’ve got some homework to do tonight, as again we seem to struggle on the Softs. Qualifying position is everything here, so we need to get into the right rhythm and make the right choices ahead of tomorrow".
