Carlos Sainz receives Ferrari’s upgrades in Friday practice at the Emilia Romagna GP

Friday, 17 May 2024:
- Free Practice 1: P3, 1:17.120, 25 laps
- Free Practice 2: P6, 1:16.423, 30 laps

  • Carlos Sainz worked across the three dry compounds in the opening day of the Emilia Romagna GP, testing the Soft and the Hard compounds in Free Practice 1 and the Soft and the Medium options in Free Practice 2.
  • The Ferrari race driver didn’t put together a clean lap on Softs, but covered up to 19 laps on a set of Hard tyres and 21 on one of the Medium in order to gather information on their behaviour in race conditions.
  • Both hours of practice were key in order to assess the upgrades of the SF-24, which affect the front and the rear wings, the sidepods, the engine cover, the floor edges and the diffuser.

QUOTES:
“Good Friday for the team. We had a strong FP1 and in FP2 we made some changes that seem to go in the right direction and I was reasonably happy with the car. I  didn't put together a clean lap with the soft but I’m confident we are in a good place. After two Sprint weekends it’s good to have time to test and try different approaches on the car, specially having a new package here. There's still a bit of work to do before qualifying but I’m already looking forward to tomorrow".
