- Free Practice 1: P9, 1:24.771, 27 laps
- Free Practice 2: P13, 1:23.872, 31 laps
- Carlos Sainz has completed the opening practice sessions of the Abu Dhabi GP without any issues, although his team has noticed a higher tyre wear than anticipated in the longer runs.
- The Spanish race driver has focused on the Hard compound in Free Practice 1, covering 19 laps with Pirelli’s C3 tyre compound.
- When the night fell, Carlos focused on the other two compounds (C4 and C5), covering 14 laps on the Soft option and 17 on the Medium. He was one of the few drivers who was able to assess both tyres in a medium-long run.

“It was an extremely tight session today. I think we’re in the fight but it looks like Haas and Sauber are leading the midfield at the moment. We were quite surprised with the high degradation during the long runs, so it’s something for us to look at. For tomorrow, we’ll try to take a step forward and fight our way into Q3. It will come down to whoever can put the lap together, so maximum focus.”
