Carlos Sainz will test in Barcelona on Wednesday and Friday
Scuderia Toro Rosso has launched today its new STR11 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Although the Faenza-based team already used the car last week during the first winter tests, today its new livery has ben revealed just as well as the team clothing for the 2016 season.
At 08:15, Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen have discovered their car under the watchful eye of the International media invited to the event, held at the Pit-Lane entry.
Toro Rosso took part in the first winter tests, organized between February 22nd and 25th, with a car that featured a provisional blue livery. From a technical point of view, it also inherited some parts of last years car.
The reason behind this singular delay was the tight schedule faced by the team this winter, with only two months to adjust its chassis to the needs of the Ferrari engine. This was a much shorter time frame than usual because of the late decision to switch from the Renault Power Unit to the one from Maranello, but the team did a big effort to succeed and put the car on track on February 22nd at 9:00.
Today, the Italian team showed a STR11 much more similar to the one that will race at the Australian Grand Prix on the upcoming March 20th. It already features some new parts from the aerodynamic side, but aesthetically the main changes are found at the wings. The front one is darker and the rear one has changed from red to blue".
Toro Rosso's testing program for the last week of preseason activity includes two action days for each driver. Carlos Sainz will be behind the Wheel on March 2nd and 4th. The Spaniard will be the last to driver the complete a lap with the brand new STR11 before it lands on the grid of the Albert Park.
