- Carlos set the third fastest time overall in the afternoon session: 1:17.953.
- He worked both on supersoft and hypersofts. On the red ones, he put together an 8-lap run and then one of 16. On the hypersoft, he started with 4-lap (setting his fastest time in the meantime) before finishing with a 7-lap stint.
"It is very nice to see two Renault cars up there in the timesheets. The team is working very hard and very well in this last phase of the season to secure that fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship".
"Nevertheless, I think these timesheets can be misleading, because you don’t see Mercedes and Ferrari. It would be naïve to think that tomorrow we will be third. I am always optimistic and I always try to do my best, but I think they hit some trouble today. They will be back".
The Mexico GP will continue on Saturday with the third Free Practice session and the Qualifying one, which will get underway at 10:00 and 13:00 local time, 17:00 and 20:00 CEST. As always, you can follow Carlos via social media and on his official website www.carlossainz.es.
