Melbourne, March 25th 2017.- Free Practice is over at the Australian Grand prix and Carlos Sainz finished the third and final session as the eighth fastest driver around. The Spaniard completed 11 laps ahead of Qualifying, but none of them were on ultrasoft tyres since a red flag compromised the last 10 minutes of the session.

While the air temperature stood at 30ºC throughout the morning, the track warmed-up quickly and increased from 34ºC to 40ºC.

Carlos waited 11 minutes in Scuderia Toro Rosso’s garage before hitting the track on supersoft tyres. After an installation lap and a six-lap run, he returned to the pits for some set-up adjustments. Later on set a 1:25.948 lap, his fastest time of the day so far.

But 10 minutes before the chequered flag, Williams’ Lance Stroll crashed into the wall in Turn 10 and caused a red flag. Although the time didn’t stop ticking, Carlos waited inside his STR12 until the very last minute until it was announced that the session would not restart. The Spaniard and a bunch of his rivals were left with no running on the ultrasoft compound.

Qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix will commence at 17:00 local time, 07:00 CET. We will follow it closely via and our Twitter account @carlosainzinfo.
