Five thousandths of a second separate Carlos Sainz from Q2 in the Brazilian GP

  • Carlos, with traffic in his fastest lap, was only five thousandths of a second short from making it through Q2, his best time being a 1:09.269.
  • The Spaniard of Renault switched back to the set-up used on Friday, unease with his car after the morning practice.
  • Rain was a constant threat throughout the session, but in the end it only drizzled.

"Today it was not a good Saturday overall. We have worked on our set-up throughout the weekend and we finally switched back to the configuration we used in Free Practice 1, since I wasn’t happy with the car after Free Practice 3. We made the car better for Qualifying, but we lacked a bit more experience on that configuration".

"I couldn’t put together any perfect lap. I was improving on my last attempt, I was going for P9 or P10, but then I had traffic with a Toro Rosso and I was a few thousandths of a second short from Q2. Anyway, we had been far behind our main competitors all weekend long, in terms of one-lap pace. Our race pace is a bit better, so we will see what happens tomorrow".

"Now we have to work on our race strategy and fight for points as always".
