Carlos Sainz set for 100th race in Formula One at the United States GP

He will celebrate it with a brand new helmet design

Austin, October 31st 2019.- Carlos Sainz is celebrating this weekend his 100th Grand Prix as a Formula One driver. This accomplishment comes in the United States GP, the antepenultimate round of the 2019 racing season.

The McLaren driver has prepared a brand new helmet design to mark the occasion, as he is ready to equal the number of races started by team founder Bruce McLaren.

The Circuit of the Americas is the last permanent racetrack to join the calendar. It held its maiden race in 2012 and has established itself thanks to its wide range of corners, inspired in some of the most iconic circuits in the world.

Carlos has always scored points on American soil. His best result to date is a sixth place in the 2016 event. In 2017, his maiden event with Renault, he finished in a brilliant seventh place, just as he did in 2015 and 2018.

The tyres available for the weekend are the C2, the C3 and the C4, which will be identified as the hard, the medium and the soft compound respectively. Carlos will have two sets of the hardest option, three of the intermediate one and eight of the softest.

QUOTES:

"The US Grand Prix is a very special event for me, marking my 100th Formula 1 start. To be an F1 driver has been my dream and my ambition for as long as I can remember, so to be hitting my 100th race at only 25 years old is a really significant moment".

"After a tough Sunday in Mexico, the whole team is willing to hit the track again at Austin this week. It is important that we keep focused and working hard until the last race. COTA is one of the most exciting tracks on the calendar and always delivers interesting racing, with the entire first sector being very fun to drive in these F1 cars. Getting Turn One right can really pay off later in that sector, so I look forward to jumping back in the car on Friday and getting set up for quali and the race".

The United States GP will begin on Friday with the first Free Practice sessions, which will be held at 11:00 and 15:00 local time, 17:00 and 21:00 Spanish time. As always, you will be able to be up to date with Carlos both through his social media channels and his official website www.carlossainz.es.
