Carlos Sainz, thirteenth in the Starting Grid of the Japanese GP

  • Carlos reached Q2 in the Qualifying session at the Suzuka Circuit, where he set the thirteenth fastest time of the day: 1:30.490.
  • He set his fastest time on used tyres. The team was saving a brand-new set for the second run, but it started to rain.
  • Despite everything, Carlos will be the first Renault in the Starting Grid and will aim for points tomorrow.

QUOTES:

"Today Q3 was not possible for us in normal conditions, but we could have done better than thirteenth. We had some hope after Free Practice 3, where we made it into the Top 10, but then came Q1 and we lost that hope. Our rivals turned-on their Qualifying engine maps and we took a small step backwards".

"It is a shame that it rained, because it caught all of us by surprise. We did our fastest lap on used tyres. We are well aware that we will have to fight very hard tomorrow. If it turns out to be a normal race, points will be very difficult. We will go for it and try to enjoy this circuit".

The Japanese GP will be held tomorrow Sunday at the Suzuka Circuit. The race will start at 14:10 local time, 07:10 CEST. As always, you will be able to follow Carlos via his social media channels and his official website www.carlossainz.es.
