Sakhir GP –4th-6th december 2020
Sakhir (5,412 metres, 15 corners, in the calendar since 2004)
- Carlos Sainz and Formula 1 get to know this weekend the outer layout of Sakhir, a new high-speed configuration that hasn't been used before and that promises a very different event to last week's Bahrain GP.
- With two races to go, both together with his personal effort in the Drivers' Championship the main goal for the Spaniard is to strengthen McLaren's third spot on the Constructors'.
"This circuit is different to the one we are used to in Formula 1. Being it so short, it will be very interesting. We will have to adjust ourselves to the traffic on track, slipstreams, the use of the battery... It is a nice experiment for Formula 1, so I support it. Some corners are very tight and there is a chicane in the middle sector, so it will be difficult to be near the cars in front. It is interesting, because that middle sector is challenging and we must be strong there, because it is the only place where you can pull up a gap or close the distance to your rivals, since the rest of the track are basically straights and DRS zones".
