- The Spaniard went against the trend and stuck to a one-stop strategy, putting a very long stint on hard tyres.
- With the four points scored at the United States, Carlos passes Gasly in the Drivers’ Championship to reinforce his position as the leading driver behind the three dominant teams.
"Today was not a bad day for the team. We leave Austin with 10 important points for us. It is a shame that I was hit going into Turn 1, because that compromised my race and I lost my chances to finish sixth or seventh. I dropped a few places, but we know that these things can happen in a start. Today I was the one who took it. The important thing is that we managed to recover and score points".
"I had traffic in my first stint, but we pitted early to overtake Gasly with an undercut. We were doing really well on hard tyres. The degradation was fine, even though our stint was very long. We had decent pace and we managed to cross the line in an important P8. Positive weekend overall. We’ll aim for more in Brazil".
