- Race: P5, 57 laps
- Carlos Sainz fought for the podium in the Miami GP until the pace of the Hard tyre on the Ferrari SF-23 dropped him back to fifth place.
- The Spaniard stuck to a really competitive pace on Medium tyres in the opening stages of the race and even undercut Fernando Alonso to move up to third after his one and only pit-stop.
- Nevertheless, when he fitted the Hard compound his SF-23 was not as competitive as it was on the Medium. This led to a loss of rhythm that Carlos managed until the chequered flag.
QUOTES:
“It was a tough race for us. My first stint on the Medium was good, but we tried to undercut Fernando early and I had to push the Hards too much immediately after coming out of the pits in order to get through the traffic. I think we paid the price for that a bit, but in general we clearly struggle with race pace. It’s frustrating, but we’ll keep working on a solution and I'm confident that we can progress as a team for the next races".
