- Achieving points was not a possible goal anymore after a Toro Rosso crashed into Carlos' McLaren at Turn 6, in Lap 1.
- The Spaniard pitted for a new front wing, joining the race in the penultimate place.
- Following a two-stop strategy and performing several overtaking manoeuvers, Carlos managed to come back and finish fourteenth.
"Another frustrating race. What happened today was beyond our control, it was impossible to avoid the Toro Rosso. Sports can be like this. When so many things happen beyond your control, the best you can do is to keep calm and trust in yourself. We are doing the things right and I am happy with the team. Everything will come".
"We didn’t have much tyre degradation and our race pace was really good. It is really difficult to take in a crash like this in the first lap, because I think we could have fought for points. The Toro Rosso lost the rear when we were all together fighting for track-position. Such a change in his direction led to the crash we all saw. It is a shame that both McLaren were compromised".
