- After a great start and a solid race pace, Carlos was hit while trying to overtake Verstappen, suffering a puncture that ultimately compromised his race.
- In the end, he was forced to retire with a technical failure in his car.
- The Spaniard leaves Bahrain with no points, but confident that his MCL34 has enough pace to fight for them in the future.
"Very disappointed with how things turned out today. I did a great start and I had a lot of pace in the initial laps which meant I was running with the top five cars. I obviously attempted a move on the RedBull, tried it around the outside, and I got hit. I got the worst of it with the puncture and ended up retiring the car for a different reason, so very disappointed obviously. I was up for some good points but it didn’t end well. On the positive side, the car felt OK and Lando scored good points for the team, so congratulations. We’ll be back in China".
