- Step forward from Carlos in the Qualifying session, recovering the feel of the MCL34 with flying laps: 1:11.417 end ninth spot on the grid.
- The McLaren driver changed the set-up of his car following the morning practice session, trying to gain more confidence.
- Carlos keeps his Monaco streak intact: he has made it to each and every Q3 and always qualified ahead of his teammate in all his visits to the Principality as a Formula 1 driver.
"It is my fifth consecutive Q3 appearance here in Monaco and this is something that makes me feel really proud, because it is a challenging track. Maybe this weekend’s Q3 was the most difficult of all, but we are P9 and I think we can still move up a couple spots in the race if we do everything right".
"After missing FP1 and a very difficult FP3 where we didn’t get it right on the set-up, finishing P9 today is a great turnaround of the weekend. I managed to put together very good laps, improving consistently to finish with that 1:14.4 which I think was the maximum we could extract today of the car".
