- Carlos set a 1:28.304 lap in Qualifying, which was held on Sunday since on Saturday the track activity was cancelled due to the Typhoon Hagibis.
- The Spaniard of McLaren was the quickest car behind the three leading teams, just as he was on Friday.
- Strong winds caused two red flags during Q1, even though they didn’t compromise Carlos. The race will start at 14:10 local time.
"We put together a really good lap when it mattered the most. I am really happy, because it wasn’t easy at all with this wind. The track was very fast, even though in the last corner we were receiving gusts of wind of 40 kilometres/hour. They compromised our traction exiting the corner, but it was the same for everyone and we managed to seize the situation. We now switch to race mode".
