- Carlos made it to Q3 and wrapped-up Qualifying in ninth place, but received a three-place penalty for impeding another car during Q1.
- A strong braking effort going into the hairpin of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve compromised his fastest lap.
- The McLaren driver has confidence in his solid race pace in order to fight and recover positions in tomorrow’s race.
"We made it to Q3, which was our goal today, but today I am not very happy. My last lap was a good one, I was going for that extra bit that we were lacking, but I locked-up into the hairpin. I feel bad, because my Q2 lap would have been enough to be eighth in the grid".
"It isn’t ideal neither to start the race from twelfth after a doubtful penalty, but anyway I am confident that we can fight for points tomorrow".
"I think we will be closer tomorrow to our rivals. We will fight hard, so we can only make the most of the night to go through the data and make sure that we find the perfect strategy for the race".
