Yellow flag impedes Carlos Sainz’s Q3 appearance in Azerbaijan

  • Carlos Sainz was forced to abandon his fastest lap in Q2, compromised after a rival went wide in one corner.
  • The McLaren driver achieved eleventh place in Qualifying, although he is set to start from tenth once all penalties are applied.
  • As one of the most unpredictable events in the calendar, it is feasible to recover in Baku with a good race strategy.

"We had the pace to easily make it to Q3, but then, on my flying lap, one Haas went wide in Turn 2. Marshals waved the yellow flag and there was nothing I could do from there. I had to lift off and abort my lap".

"I am angry, because once again it is something that is beyond our control. But we know that our car has potential, so this night we will thoughtfully prepare for the race together with the engineers to come back and fight for a good result".
