Encouraging results both in short and long runs
- Carlos is eighth in the second free practice session of the Azerbaijan GP; he is the first Renault.
- He completed 36 laps in total and his 1:43.834 arrived in the only Qualifying run he did on ultrasoft tyres.
- He spent the afternoon preparing for Sunday's race, running both on the supersoft compound (21 laps) and the ultrasoft one (15). Track conditions improved and set-up changes were positive.
- He finished one tenth away from the leading car of the midfield.
"Today we went from less to more. In Free Practice 1 we had to test quite a few parts and we learned from them. We struggled a bit under breaking, but we managed to solve it by Free Practice 2 and now everything works quite better. Anyway, we are still far from reaching the limit of the car. Tomorrow lap-times will improve".
"The midfield is tight with a few teams pretty close. We are also there. It won't be easy, but, knowing that the engine factor is very important here, we will be very happy if we make it to Q3 tomorrow just as we have done in the past few races".
