Carlos Sainz works further on the McLaren developments at the Barcelona in-season testing

He will be back in the MCL34 at the Monaco Grand Prix

  • Carlos got back at the wheel of the MCL34 two days after the Spanish GP to put together 64 laps around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Day 1 of in-season testing.
  • The Spaniard drove in the morning session. His run plan comprised both a series of checks related to the upgrades brought in last week and work ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.
  • In a busy day with many checks, a symbolic 1:18.263 lap on C2 Pirelli tyres placed him sixth  in the final standings.

"Today has been a positive day of testing for us as we managed to complete the whole programme planned for my morning session in the car. We tested a few things that we had doubts about after the weekend, and looked into the set-up that didn’t help our qualifying and race pace performance. We also validated some new aero parts that we brought here this weekend. We've got the data we need to take back home. That will help us understand what we did well this weekend and what we need to work on for Monaco. Overall, I’m happy with the work done".
