- Carlos Sainz reached the Q3 and set the eighth fastest time overall in Qualifying: 1:16.084.
- The Spaniard wasn’t happy about the behaviour of his car; he had oversteering.
- Points are the ultimate goal in a race where the degradation of the hypersoft tyre will play a key role.
"We are back to reality after what we saw on Friday, but I am still very happy because the team managed to put both cars again in Q3. The progress we have made so far since Suzuka is great. On a personal note, though, I am not happy. I didn’t feel comfortable in the car. I had a lot of oversteering and that ultimately impeded me from attacking. We will have to check the reasons behind that change in the car balance".
"In the race, the pace will depend more on the condition of the tyres than on us. It will depend on how long do they go, on whether we can make it a one-stop or not. We will see!".
