- Carlos was a tenth short from Q3 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, his fastest lap was 1:38.716.
- The Spaniard of Renault struggled with the grip of his tyres, which had temperature issues.
- Carlos will be free to choose his starting tyres, so he could go for ultrasoft to try and aim for a point-finish performance.
"I am not happy today, because our goal was to make it to Q3 and to be P7, not P12. That was the pace we had had all weekend long. Maybe I’ll see it a better light later, when I realise that I start P12 on ultrasoft tyres to try and recover, but this was not our original goal".
"I felt good at the beginning of Qualifying, then worse as it progressed. At first we had a great pace, we put together a great lap in Q1. From then on, each time I left the pits I could sense that I had less grip. The grip was evolving for the better, but my car was for the worse. We will have to analyse the temperature problems of our tyres. Anyway, points are given on Sunday and we will fight for them".
