- Carlos set the seventeenth fastest time in the second Free Practice session of the Canadian GP.
- His day came to an end when he was on his ninth lap after a collision with the wall.
- He is happy with the Renault R.S.18 and feels confident ahead of tomorrow despite today’s accident.
“I am happy with the car despite my accident. We only need to put some more laps under our belt, but I believe that lap-times will come naturally. We have enough data for tomorrow”.
He was cautious when talking about Renault’s last power-unit upgrade: “I think it is still too early to talk about our engine upgrade. We won’t really know what we have won with this update until everybody goes into Qualifying mode”.
Discussing possible race-strategies for Sunday… “The ultrasoft tyre is performing well, better than it did in Monaco. It is a surprise for everybody. I believe on Sunday the situation will be pretty similar to the other races. Those starting from outside the Top 10 won’t have too much trouble to make a one-stop strategy work. Those who start from the Top 10 on hypersofts will fight for a one-stop, or maybe go for a second change of tyres”.
