The Spaniard worked on his Qualifying preparations
Mogyoród, July 29th 2017.- Carlos Sainz finished eleventh in the third and final Free Practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The driver of Scuderia Toro Rosso completed 22 laps in total. He was 2,283 seconds behind the leader, but much closer to the Top 10. At the end of the hour-long session, his fastest lap was 1:19.300.
The day began under clear blue skies at the Hungaroring, in a similar fashion to yesterday. The air temperature was 25 degrees Celsius. The biggest difference was the track temperature, which skyrocketted up to 50 degrees.
Carlos hit the track as soon as the lights went green. He completed his first stint on medium tyres, the same set that he had used in Free Practice 1. He did four laps in total plus two Drive-Throughs, stopping the clock at 1:22.742.
When the session approached its halfway point, the Spaniard picked-up the supersoft rubber to prepare for Qualifying. In his first stint -7 laps-, he improved to 1'19"604. He tried a second flying lap before returning to the pits, but his tyres were not new anymore. In the final stages, Carlos tried a second set of supersofts and improved to 1:19.523. But it was in his seventh and final lap when he managed to clock his fastest lap of the weekend so far: 1:19.300.
The Qualifying session will follow here at the Hungarian Grand Prix at 14:00 Spanish time. As always, we will keep you updated on Carlos' latest news via his official website www.carlosainz.es and our Twitter account @carlosainzinfo.
