- Carlos to start British GP from P16 with free tyre choice.
- He used two sets of soft tyres and made steady improvements in Q1, but it wasn’t enough to make it through.
- The set-up changes made in the R.S.18 after Free Practice 3 didn’t perform as Carlos and his team expected.
"Obviously I am not happy, because, for the first time this year, we are not in Q3. The good news is that we had to wait until today to say this. My last Q1 lap was not perfect, I had traffic in the first sector, but we also changed a couple things in the car after Free Practice 3 and they didn’t work very well, and when everything is so tight it is very difficult to recover. It is a tough weekend for the team, but we are already thinking on tomorrow and we will give our very best".
"Today it was not our day, but we have data to go through to see what we can do for tomorrow. It looks like it will be a one-stop race, but we will try and seize every opportunity to fight our gain places".
