Italian GP, 4th-6th September 2020
Autodromo Nazionale di Monza (5.793 metres, 11 corners, in the calendar since 1950)
- Tha Italian GP is the first of the three races that Formula 1 has scheduled on Italian soil for this season. It will be followed by Mugello and Imola on 13th September and 1st November, respectively.
- Carlos’ best result is an eighth place in the 2018 race, even though in 2019 he retired due to an issue in the pits when he was running sixth.
- The Spaniard of McLaren will run on Friday the engine that failed in Spa-Francorchamps to try and check whether the repairs were successful and if it can become available for the rest of the season.
"Monza is the first of the three Italian races in the calendar for this year. Its long straights give opportunities for overtaking, so it will be an interesting weekend. It was very disappointing not being able to take the start of the Belgian GP, but luckily, I will not have to wait too long to get back in the car. Renault has conducted an investigation and has found the cause of the failure, so tomorrow we will run again the engine to check whether it can become available for the rest of the season. So far we have missed 30 points due to issues beyond our control, but we will do everything in our hand to try and enjoy a different second half of the season".
