Carlos Sainz is P10 in Free Practice 1 at United States GP

First laps on the soft and supersoft tyres

Austin, October 21st 2016.- Carlos Sainz finished P10 in the first Free Practice session for the United States Grand Prix of Formula 1 and, more important, clocked 26 laps in total without any remarkable problems along the way.
Action took place under clear blue skies at Austin, with air temperature at 20 degrees and the track at 29. It is worth to notice that the first session was scheduled to start at 10:00 local time, as it finally did.
Carlos' Toro Rosso STR11 was one of the first cars to hit the track, in his case on a set of soft tyres. The Spaniard began with an installation lap, followed by an eight-lap run plus another cruising lap. In total, 10 turns around the Texan circuit in the first 30 minutes, the moment when he had to return his tyres to Pirelli.

Next up was a six-lap stint on one of the seven supersoft sets he has available for the weekend. The second lap proved to be his fastest of the morning, a 1:40.140 which placed him in tenth place. After that, he moved to a 10-lap run with slower yet regular times, a stint which proved to be useful to get to know the behaviour of this compound. All in all, 26 laps in total for the Spaniard of Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Free Practice 2 will begin at 14:00 local time, 21:00 Spanish time, and we will follow it via www.carlosainz.es and our Twitter account @carlosainzinfo.
