Austin, October 18th 2018.- Carlos Sainz has arrived at the city of Austin, home this weekend to the Formula One United States Grand Prix, in the already iconic Circuit of the Americas.
Designed by German architect Hermann Tilke, the circuit of Austin, which has been in the calendar since its inception in 2012, is already the scenario where Carlos made his race debut with the Renault Sport Formula One Team back in 2017.
The Spaniard holds dear great memories of the place, since he has managed to score points in each and every visit. He was tenth in 2015 and sixth in 2016 with Toro Rosso. With Renault, he was seventh in 2017 after a remarkable performance that included an overtaking manoeuvre on the outside line over Sergio Pérez in the closing stages of the race.
The soft, the supersoft and the ultrasoft are the tyre compounds available for the weekend. Carlos will have two sets of the yellow one (soft), three of the red (supersoft) and eight of the purple (ultrasoft). His teammate Nico Hülkenberg will have a very similar tyre allocation, with the only diference that he will have a single set of softs (one less than Carlos) and four of supersofts (one more).
As in every Thursday prior to the Grand Prix, Carlos has done a track-walk around the circuit in company of his engineers to inspect the circuit first-hand. He has also attended the media.
"I have great memories of Austin. I have always done fine here. I hope we can have another good weekend; we will fight for it. I have scored valuable points since Hungary, points which are helpful for the team in our pursuit for the fourth place of the Constructors’ Championship. This circuit is not as power-demanding as others, so we hope to return to the fight for Q3. We hope to be better than in Japan".
The United States GP will kick-off on Friday with Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2, which will get underway at 10:00 and 14:00 local time, 17:00 and 21:00 Spanish time. As always, you will be able to keep up-to-date with Carlos on social media and on his official website www.carlossainz.es.
