Carlos Sainz, sixth in Free Practice in Italy: "Our pace seems encouraging"

Monza, Friday 4th September 2020
- Free Practice 1: P10, 1:21.821, 26 laps
- Free Practice 2: P6, 1:21.313, 30 laps

  • Carlos Sainz set the sixth fastest time overall in the first day of practice for the Italian GP. He completed 26 laps on different set-ups and run both with and without a tow, which is important in this track.
  • The McLaren driver used the three dry compounds available, clocking race-runs in the afternoon session.

"It was a decent Friday and the pace seemed encouraging. I think we have had a strong couple of sessions, where we managed to try a lot of different combinations on set-ups and got to try laps with and without a tow. We’ll need to have a look at the data on the long runs and work out how we’re looking there too, but overall, it’s been a smooth Friday".
