Carlos Sainz repeats P7 in Free Practice 2 for the Japanese GP

  • The second and final Free Practice session came to an end with Carlos in seventh place, the first car behind the three leading teams.
  • The McLaren driver used up to three sets of soft tyres, picking-up his pace and reaching a 1:29.051.
  • He also fitted a set of medium tyres to work on his MCL34 in race conditions. He was happy with the car.
  • Free Practice 3 has been cancelled and Qualifying has been pushed to Sunday at 10:00 local time, 03:00 Spanish time. In case Qualifying can’t get underway, the Starting Grid will be configured based on the results of Free Practice 2.

"A good Friday. We had a moment there in Free Practice 1 with an electrical issue, but the team did a good job and we managed to get back on track and follow our program as planned. I felt well in the car, it seems that we are competitive, but it is difficult to know where our competitors are. Since there is no running on Saturday, each team has taken a different path. We will use the Saturday to focus a lot on the Qualifying session and the race itself".
