- On a slippery track, Carlos put 32 laps on a single set of medium tyres.
- The gathered data is important, since forecasts suggest that the Grand Prix could take place in the same weather conditions.
- The McLaren driver set the twelfth fastest time (1:22.482) and saved the soft tyre for Saturday’s practice session.
QUOTES:
"It was a positive Friday on mixed conditions. In Free Practice 1 we wanted to find out the ideal moment to switch from wet tyres to slicks and in Free Practice 2 we ran on medium tyres to gather data in mixed conditions. We didn’t use the soft compound, so I don’t really know where we stand among our competitors. We are lacking a lot of top speed. We didn’t expect this, but we will have to deal with it. Anyway, from the out lap I could feel that the car was a bit better than in Spa-Francorchamps. This gives us some optimism for Saturday and Sunday. A good starting point".
