Carlos Sainz, tenth in Free Practice 2 for the Brazilian GP

  • Carlos completed 38 laps with the tenth fastest lap overall (1:10.310) in a session that went underway in dry conditions, contrary to the morning one.
  • The McLaren driver started on medium tyres, completing two installation laps and a 10-lap run. He then switched to softs, setting his best time in a 8-lap stint. He then put together 17 laps on the same set of tyres. He also used a second one, which he prepared for Saturday with a single lap.

"The afternoon session was quite challenging. I didn't feel 100% comfortable and I didn't get the same feeling as in previous weekends, so we've got homework tonight to improve both in short and long runs".

"The morning session was positive. We completed a lot of mileage in the rain and we were competitive, gathering valuable data that has helped us to improve in those conditions. I am already looking forward to Saturday. I am sure there's a lot of margin of improvement".
