Carlos Sainz fine-tunes the MCL35 as Testing Week 1 concludes

1.100 kilometres of mileage for the Spaniard

Montmeló, 21 February 2020.- Carlos Sainz completed 76 laps this morning in the third day of preseason testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, concluding his participation in the first week of running at the track.

Carlos was scheduled to driver in the afternoon, but the team switched minds at the very last minute and called him in for the morning. Besides gathering mileage without any reliability concerns, the driver tested an upgraded front wing on his MCL35.

Getting started with an installation run, the Spaniard put on the new wing to check its performance. His run plan consisted of short and medium runs, even though he didn’t get to drive on low fuel. He started on the C3 compound and then switched to the C2 option, setting a 1:18.274 on the latter to get to the lunch break in seventh place.

Carlos didn’t run in the afternoon, but he will be back next week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to carry on with the preseason. It will be the last opportunity to try the new McLaren MCL35 before the season-opener Australian Grand Prix, which will take place in Melbourne later in March.
