Next up, the season opener Bahrain GP
Sakhir, March 14th 2021.- Carlos Sainz drove in the third and final day of pre-season testing for the 2021 Formula 1 season, setting the third fastest lap of the session.
The Scuderia Ferrari driver completed 79 laps in the afternoon session, adding up to 192 laps around the Sakhir International Circuit across the three days of testing. 1.039 kilometres.
Carlos completed the team’s run plan, which included both short stints and longer runs of almost 20 laps to assess the behaviour of the SF21 and the tyres.
The Spaniard also got to run for the very first time on Pirelli’s C4 tyre, which is set to be the soft compound of the upcoming Bahrain GP, scheduled for the 28th of March. It was on this tyre that he set his fastest lap (1:29.611).
Now that pre-season is over, the full focus turns to the Bahrain GP, which will be the first Grand Prix of the 2021 Formula 1 Championship. The event will take place in this very same track from the 26th to the 28th of March.
