He completed his scheduled program without any issues
Barcelona, May 13th 2016.- The Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1 started today under clear blue skies and temperatures of 19ºC (air) and 35ºC (track). In Free Practice 1, Carlos Sainz completed the schedule program without any issues and ended up in eighth place.
The Spaniard from Scuderia Toro Rosso used two set of the medium tyre compound, and on both of them he set his fastest lap on the first lap of each stint. The track improved as its surface gained grip. Carlos' set-up also progressed, as between the first run and the second one he gained almost one second to make himself a place between the two Williams in the standings.
Carlos' time is 2"054 than the one he set last year in this very same session, even though he used the hard compound at that time.
After jumping out of his STR11, he explained: "It all went well, a normal session. We'll keep on working on the set-up for the race in Free Practice 2".
The second free practice session of the Spanish GP will be held today at 14:00 Spanish time.
